HOW TO BE MORE ACTIVE IN THE OFFICE
Pain in the neck, problem with disc herniation in the lumbar area, stiffness in the shoulder girdle, all with the consequences of long-term work in a sitting position. Many think that exercising during working hours can cause sweating and fatigue, which will make it impossible for them to continue with their professional duties. However, this is not the case at all. During working hours, there are activities that do not require muscle fatigue or sweating, but relaxation and stretching that do not take much time, and with all that, make you even more productive and better at your job. Real Fit experts suggest 5 ways to be more active at work:
Sit up straight
Getting up and moving around the office helps, but sometimes we really need to sit. Your chair should be at such a height that your feet flatly touch the floor, while your knees and hips are at an angle of 90 degrees, and the lower part of your spine rests on the chair.
Get up and walk
Walk whenever you can during working hours. Do not use the phone to communicate with a colleague from another office or on another floor, but use the stairs to go directly there. In addition, walk to the farthest toilet, during the break, walk to the market, and of course do not take too many snacks during working hours.
Stretching of the upper body
Stretching the upper part of the body is simpler than the lower part of the body, in other words, it can be performed even from a sitting position. One way is to stretch both arms above your head as much as possible and straighten your back the same way. Then, putting one arm behind your head or pushing it to one side or the other can greatly give you a feeling of stretching and relaxation. Body rotations to one side and the other should be performed with a degree of caution, especially if you sit for a long period of time or have pre-existing back pain.
Stretching the lower part of the body
Although stretching the lower body is a slightly more complicated, it is still not impossible. Stretching the lower part of the body is of particular importance because when we stretch the legs, we do the same with the lower back, with which we often have problems and pain. Stretching is done by pulling one foot towards the gluteal region or raising the knee in front of you and holding it in that position for a while. In addition, bringing your body into a push-up position on the table and pushing your heels toward the floor can greatly stretch your calves. By lowering your body to the floor and touching your feet, you greatly stretch your hamstring and back muscles, which can make your day easier.
Breathing and yoga exercises
Breathing from the diaphragm is calming and reduces tension and nervousness. Place one hand on the chest and one under the ribcage and follow the movement of the diaphragm. Inhale for 5 seconds, hold your breath for a second and exhale again for 5 seconds. Repeat five times and you will feel where your greatest tension is. Yoga is one of the forms of training that our personal trainers from Real Fit conduct with employees in many companies.
Elastic bands
Using elastic bands during the break can greatly help you to activate the already sleepy muscles. Our personal trainers use elastic bands during a 15-minute exercise session with employees, and in addition to having excellent effects on posture and body strengthening, it turned out to be quite fun and interesting for employees.
